Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for questions to be asked about his future after another heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the club's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received significant support from above,” the coach stated.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with outcomes like these.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, prove again what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
