Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial candidates in the frame to replace the former manager as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the club ownership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a possible obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of appearances for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a leading contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves directors as they start the process of appointing a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise contender, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham player is out of work which means the club would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
