Across the fiercely cutthroat world of interactive entertainment, it's usual for emerging rivals to fade away as rapidly as they burst on to the landscape.
However Battlefield 6 is striving to alter that.
Here comes the newest release in a long-standing military shooter series frequently described as a grittier alternative to Call of Duty.
This game has never quite succeeded to rival its best-known opponent in aspects of units sold or gamers, but there are signs the latest version could narrow the difference.
A trial session enabling players a shot to experience the game not long ago achieved milestones, and the buzz leading up to its launch has been huge.

In spite of reports that the scale of the project had put a strain on the various developers collaborating across continents to build the game, Fas is upbeat about the process.
"Collaborating with varied backgrounds, distinct backgrounds, it's a truly fascinating atmosphere to be engaged with daily," he says.
"This entire approach has been something new but also truly thrilling because we are collaborating with team members from all over the world."
Concerning the expectation on the developers, Fas says: "We feel stress but additionally it's exciting.
"It's a big project. It's likely the biggest that the majority of the team have before participated in."
