Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – truly monumental. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Honoring a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for children.

At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
