The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Tottenham and Raise Tension on Frank
Tottenham Hotspur fans who booed goalkeeper Vicario were told later "they can't be real Tottenham fans" by boss Thomas Frank.
Tottenham let in two scores in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight home defeat of the year.
However the primary topic of discussion was Fulham's next score when the keeper lost possession far beyond his box.
He ventured out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the touchline.
However, rather than booting it out of play, the Italian turned and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by King.
King passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline recorded at 36.6 yards.
Seconds afterwards when the ball came to Vicario once more, a number of Spurs supporters jeered him.
The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at the final whistle.
One of those jeering episodes really irritated Frank.
"It came to my attention a few of our fans reportedly jeered the incident and booed following, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager commented regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.
"[They] cannot be real Tottenham fans that do that. Alright booing following the match, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are behind each other moving ahead."
Tete had handed Fulham a early lead prior to Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second-half performance.
Former Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart remarked that the second score was "totally avoidable".
"I do understand the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I know the part Vicario is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he is a true figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.
"The keeper was heavily implicated in what ended up to be the winning goal."
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Game
Italian international Vicario is in his third campaign with Tottenham.
He said following the match that he had to accept the feedback.
"The second score was a mistake of my own, I take accountability for that," he said.
"The intent was to clear the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."
He said receiving jeers "is part of football".
"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "We can't be influenced by the situation in the crowd. The fans have the right to do what they think.
"It's on us to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on ourselves. We are missing in composure and poise to overturn outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it is tough to accept."
Despite Vicario's error, it was not an simple score for Wilson to score.
Actually it was the next most distant Premier League score of the season – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too came on the same day.
Wilson stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty net to target.
Ten seconds elapsed between the keeper exiting of his box and the midfielder striking – which was 5 moments after the kick.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was away from the area for ages," Wilson said.
"I was surprised not one of the back four returned to the goal line. When none of them defended the net, my interest lit up somewhat.
"Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a bit of extra time. Then it was solely about attempting to make the right connection and place it towards goal. I had a positive sense, as soon as it left my boot, that it was on the right line."
Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank
Although the keeper's error dominated headlines, this was an all-round bad performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.
This was their 10th at home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a joint team statistic matching 1994 and two thousand and three.
The side still have home games against the manager's old side the Bees and title holders the Reds to play before the close of the season.
Just a single of those wins have occurred after the manager took over from his predecessor in the summer.
"When you're behind 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to overcome," said Frank.
"During in a poor run, everything appears to work against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the next is a mistake from the keeper.
"This result leaves us in a position where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a unique narrative, today we lost in the early stages.
"We just need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully something we can use to develop."
Tottenham have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.
Furthermore they are recording nine point five attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their poorest rates on record in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).
Ex- Cottagers midfield player Murphy commented that Frank has to ride the storm.
"He must take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He has accepted a high profile job at a huge team with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.
"Their showings at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
