Democratic lawmakers have published a new tranche of what they labeled "disturbing" pictures from the property of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, depicting among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and ex-UK prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The opening batch of 19 photographs—a portion of which have been previously circulated—plus another 70 unveiled later on Friday represent a small number of the nearly 100,000 images provided to the House investigative panel, which is examining the actions and ties of Epstein.
The fallen money manager died by an apparent self-inflicted death in a New York prison cell in 2019 after being accused of sex-trafficking crimes.
Included in the high-profile individuals seen in the first release are public figures featuring film director Woody Allen; Microsoft founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, creator of the Virgin empire.
Donald Trump is pictured in three of the first nineteen images. In one, he is pictured with six women, whose faces are obscured.
The White House addressed the release in a official comment, charging Democrats of purposefully "cherry-picking" the photographs for political purposes and to "attempt to fabricate a false narrative."
"The Democrat hoax against President Trump has been repeatedly debunked," an administration official remarked, asserting that "the Trump administration has achieved more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats ever have by frequently urging transparency, disclosing numerous documents of documents, and calling for more inquiries into Epstein's liberal connections."
The photos were published without context, but according to a Democratic representative from California and ranking member of the investigative panel, they elicit additional doubts about Epstein's associations with wealthy individuals.
"Now is the occasion to stop this White House obfuscation and bring justice to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein and his influential associates," he said in a statement.
The release of these documents occurs alongside the oversight committee proceeding with its probe into the Epstein matter.
